ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Diplomat, author and traveller

Dato’ Dr Ilango Karuppannan spent 33 years in the Malaysian diplomatic service, serving as High Commissioner to Singapore and Ambassador to Lebanon and Cyprus.

After decades representing Malaysia abroad, he began travelling its old roads and writing about overlooked places, people and histories. His books combine personal observation, overlooked history and a diplomat’s eye for the people and places that have shaped Malaysia.
